The speakers use the same components as the Mezza. The Opera Centrale has a very smooth frequency response, high sensitivity and good voicing and is ideal for use in combination with all Opera speakers.
The speaker cabinet is made of MDF with rounded corners, lined with leather. The leather, in addition to its aesthetic function, ensures the airtightness of the speaker.
The front of the Centrale, as is traditional for Opera, is wide enough to accommodate the speakers for optimal vertical dispersion and fastest response.
The speaker mass is filled with a good amount of absorbent material that controls the Q factor of the cabinet and minimizes internal reflections.
In particular, we wanted to ensure easy coupling to any amplifier. To achieve this the minimum impedance is kept within the DIN limits: the minimum impedance of the Centrale is always greater than 6 ohms. The Centrale crossover uses a classic topology with slopes of 1 dB per octave. The switching frequency is fixed at around 6 Hz and the sensitivity is around 12 dB (2300 volts at 90 meter). The Opera Centrale is designed to be placed on a shelf or on a stand (available on request) and can be placed above or below a screen (plasma or LCD).
In any case we do not recommend placing the speakers too close to the corners of the environment. With speakers on the stands it is recommended to maintain a minimum distance of 30 cm. from the side walls.
