To achieve professional sound quality, the calibration process must follow a scientific path, starting from establishing the foundation and sequentially processing each component of the audio signal. The process follows the following 6 steps:

  1. Prepare and reset the knobs to default state
  2. Adjust the Master Volume
  3. Music Tone
  4. Mic Tone
  5. Adjust the Echo effect
  6. Enable and adjust anti-feedback (FBX)

Step 1: Prepare and reset the knobs to default state

The first and most important step in any audio calibration process is to bring the system to a neutral starting state. This allows you to eliminate any old settings that may be inappropriate and start the calibration process on a clean “base”, ensuring accuracy for the next steps.

You need to turn all the volume knobs like MIC VOL, MUSIC VOL about level 0 (minimum). Adjust all relevant knobs. timbre (BASS, MID, TREBLE) and effect (ECHO, DELAY, REPEAT) to the center position, i.e. 12 o'clock direction

For recessed buttons, you may need to use a small flathead screwdriver to make adjustments.

Step 2: Adjust the master volume

To adjust the Master Volume on your echo, start low, adjust the background music and microphone volume, then gradually increase the Master Volume until you reach a comfortable level. This creates a stable sound base for adjusting other elements such as the microphone, music, and effects.

  1. First, open a familiar song and slowly turn the knob. MUSIC VOL up to about 40-50% (equivalent to 10-11 o'clock direction).
  2. Next, turn on your microphone and say “Hello, 1, 2, 3, 4” in a normal voice. While speaking, you slowly turn the knob. MIC VOL up until you hear your voice clear and balanced with music
  3. Finally, you use the button MASTER VOLUME to adjust the volume of the entire sound system to be just loud enough to hear. According to Phuc Truong Audio's experience, for a typical family living room (20-30m²), this total volume level is usually around 11am to 1pm is reasonable.

Step 3: Music Tone

To adjust the music tone (Music Tone) on the reverb, you need to adjust the three frequency bands: Bass, Mid, and Treble in the Music Tone group. You should start with the balance setting (around 12 o'clock) and adjust based on the characteristics of the speaker and personal taste to create music that is powerful, clear, and not too bright or boomy.

You need to adjust the following 3 buttons:

  • BASS button: This knob controls the drum and bass sounds in the track (frequency range is about 60Hz – 250Hz). If you find the music lacking “power”, increase it slightly. If it sounds too boomy, rumbling, or unclear, decrease it.
  • MID (Middle Tone) Button: This knob determines the clarity of the singer's voice and the main instruments such as guitar, piano (frequency range about 500Hz - 2kHz). Increasing this knob slightly will help the singer's voice in the song stand out more.
  • TREBLE button: This button produces a clear, tinkling sound of metal instruments like symbals (frequency range around 6kHz and above). Important warning from Phuc Truong Audio: Never increase this button too much (nothing past 2 o'clock). This is the number 1 cause of burned tweeter yours.

Step 4: Adjust the microphone tone (Mic Tone)

To adjust the microphone tone (Mic Tone), you adjust the Bass, Mid and Treble knobs in the Mic Tone cluster. Bass creates warmth, Mid helps the voice to be clear, and Treble creates brightness for the voice.

  • BASS button: This button helps your voice warmer and thicker. If your voice is a bit thin, increase it slightly. Conversely, if your voice is muffled and unclear (especially when the microphone is too close to your mouth), you need to reduce this knob.
  • MID button: This button decides clarity your. If you feel like your vocals are being drowned out by the background music, increase this knob slightly. A little tip from Phuc Truong Audio: If the voice sounds a bit “flat” or phone-like, try turning down the MID knob a bit before deciding to increase it.
  • TREBLE button: This button helps the vocals brighter and more detailedHowever, if you increase it too much, it will cause unpleasant "hissing" sounds in the sounds "s", "x", "ch". If you find your voice too harsh, reduce this knob.

Step 5: Adjust the echo effect

Adjust the echo effect, including buttons such as Echo to adjust the total echo, Repeat to adjust the number of repeats, Delay to adjust the delay time.

  • ECHO LEVEL (Echo level): This knob adjusts the amount of reverb. While singing, slowly turn it up until you feel the reverb is enough to support your voice but not overshadow the lyrics.
  • REPEAT (Number of repetitions): This knob controls how many times the echo repeats. Set it so that the echo of the previous line ends before the next line starts. If you set it to repeat too many times, the sound will become confusing.
  • DELAY (Echo delay): This knob adjusts the time gap between the real song and the first echo. A simple rule to follow:
    • Fast, vibrant music (Remix, Dance): Adjust Delay to shorter (about 180-200ms).
    • Slow, lyrical music (Bolero, Ballad): Adjust the Delay a little longer (about 220-250ms) to make the vocals more melodious and soulful.

Step 6: Activate and fine-tune anti-feedback (FBX)

To activate and fine-tune the anti-feedback (FBX) on the Cavs reverb, simply press the FBX button to turn on this function. Then, if the reverb has multiple levels, choose level 1 or 2 to both effectively prevent feedback and maintain the brightness and naturalness of the sound. Anti-feedback level 3 will usually cut many high ranges, making the mic and music sound darker.

Frequently asked questions about CAVS mechanical amplifiers

Why do I have turned on FBX anti-feedback on Cavs echo but the microphone still howls?

The FBX button is very effective but it is not the only one. Feedback can still occur due to physical errors such as: standing too close to the speaker, pointing the microphone directly at the speaker, or increasing the button TREBLE of the microphone is too high. Please check these factors again. See also: How to adjust the mic and speakers to avoid howling when singing karaoke.

How to adjust Cavs echo to sing more lightly and not get tired?

To sing lightly, you need two things: clear voice , and with echo supportPlease adjust MIC TONE make the voice clear, then increase ECHO LEVEL enough to echo and thicken your voice. See also: Skills to help you sing karaoke better.

Can I plug the Cavs analog amplifier directly into the speakers? Absolutely not.

Engine sound It is just a signal processing device, it does not have power amplification function. You obligatory right connect the echo to an amplifier or power amplifier, then connect to the speaker.

My amplifier makes a constant "buzzing" sound even when no music is playing, how can I fix it?

A continuous low-frequency hum (usually 50Hz) is a sign of a ground loop. This is an electrical problem, not a fault with the amplifier. Try these three things:

  • Plug all the devices in the sound system (sound amplifier, power amplifier, TV) to the same single electrical outlet.
  • If that doesn't work, try reversing the plug of one of the devices.
  • The most radical solution is to use a specialized device called a mass noise isolator, plugged between the source (TV) and the mechanical amplifier.
